…for Your Site

Get paid for your content. Do good for charity.

Do you create stuff online? Most people DON'T pay for content. Paywalls only attract a small number of readers and ads clutter up your site. CentUp gives your fans an alternative and a really great reason to donate: when they do, they're not just supporting you, but also social causes they believe in. Think of us as the TOMS shoes of content.

Check out how Daniel V. is using CentUp on his site: How CentUp Changed My Website.

What is it?

CentUp is a small button (similar to the like button) that you install on your site with only two lines of code. It allows your readers to pay you for your content with one click.

Who is it for?

Simply put, anyone who creates content online. No matter how big or small, or how (in)frequently, you create content, CentUp will work for you. Unlike most media sites, we don't focus on a constant stream of "new", we just want to work with creators who have timeless content worth sharing with audiences who've never seen them.

FAQs

It largely depends on your readership. The average CentUp user gives $0.25 per donation, and every contribution is split evenly between you and one of our charities.

Donate your earnings to whatever cause you’d like! We know not everyone needs or wants to earn revenue via CentUp. But it shouldn’t stop you from raising money through the button. Either way, we send you a payout when you reach $100. If you want to give it away to a cause, great!
Similar to other social buttons, people can login or sign up when clicking on the button for the first time. It takes less than a minute to create an account and load funds. When their balance hits zero, the account reloads automagically. Right now we’re giving away 100 cents to every new user to try CentUp out without having to pay.
The CentUp dashboard will show you who your biggest donors are, and what content is generating the most clicks. A lot more valuable than counting likes and tweets right?
Installing CentUp is really quick and we’ve built it for several popular platforms like Tumblr, Wordpress, Squarespace, Blogger, Drupal and more. To maintain a quality experience for our users, we personally approve every publisher who requests a CentUp account. This will help prevent any evil-doers from putting CentUp on their site.

First of all, it’s important that you ask that question of yourself and your fans. A lot of times the biggest obstacle to getting contributions from your fans is actually asking them. CentUp makes that question much easier, because your work is helping raise money for great causes. Beyond that...

  1. Many of our publishers offer exclusive incentives to their CentUp donors whether that be a private newsletter, a monthly Google Hangout, or early access to upcoming products and content.
  2. There’s a personal connection that CentUp creates that is more powerful than a “like or tweet.” The social buttons at the bottom of your posts display numbers next to them, but you don’t know who those numbers are. When someone shows you appreciation via CentUp, you get a face and a name. So the connection between you and your fans is a lot more intimate.
No limit! Giving a few cents at a time is completely ok, but if your fans find something compelling and want to give more they absolutely can. Every donor sets a default amount they give, and after they click they’re able to increase their contribution.
When you reach $100 in earnings we send you a payment via PayPal or hard check (you know...as long as the postal service still exists). This is done once a month if your earnings balance is over $100.
Yes we are. But think less Ebenezer Scrooge and more Richard Branson. We believe in the idea of conscious capitalism and that businesses can do more for the world when they’re building social impact into their business model. We take a 10% cut to cover the cost of financial transfers and to expand CentUp so more writers and charities can enjoy the benefits of the network.
We will always be on your side. Please let us know immediately. The mission of our company is to help content creators and we know that the web has been both a gift and a curse in terms of content distribution and attribution. We will work with you closely to make things right.
If you have a suggestion for a national non-profit that we should consider, please let us know. We’re very open to these discussions, especially if you have a relationship with them. Our request is the organization is national and is open to working with emerging tech companies.
If for example your site has 10 bloggers that work for you, one owner will be in charge of distributing the earnings as they see fit. Some of our publishers treat CentUp like ad revenue and simply use it to help pay the admin costs of running their site. The choice is yours. If you are a large publisher, get in touch and we’ll work with you on a more custom approach.
Please email us at team(at)centup(dot)org. We’ll try to get back to you quickly. If you include a picture of puppies, bacon, or 80s video games, we’ll reply faster.
